My Second Week In Costa Rica

I am still having a blast and learning a lot here in Costa Rica. This week our excursion travels took us to Irazu Volcano, the Braulio Carrillo Rain Forest and to the tons of Grecia and Sarchi. I was able to buy some souvenirs this week and can't wait to show you all what I got. I hope you enjoy the slide show. I have TONS of pictures but can't post them all or I would be here all day!! I will share them with you when I get back to Texas. This weekend I am going to Limon Costa Rica. It is on the Carribean coast and the environment is supposed to be completely different. I leave tomorrow and return on Monday morning. I will have more pictures for you on Tuesday!! Love you!!

Costa Rica Week 1

Hey guys!! Well I made it to Costa Rica all in one piece (after a flight delay!!). I am really enjoying my classes and the culture here. I am staying with a lady in Curridabat in the San Jose providence. Her house is nice and I have a really great set up. I have my own room with a full sized bed, a dresser and a closet. I also have my own bathroom attached to my room. It's almost like staying at a bed and breakfast. She cooks me breakfast and dinner everyday. The fruit here is WONDERFUL. It is really juicy and sweet. Costa Ricans or Ticos (as they call themselves) eat a lot of rice and beans. Everyone I have met so far is super nice. I am also making friends at school. This weekend I am traveling with another girl to Manuel Antonio. There is a beautiful beach and rainforest there. Classes are going well. I am learning some Spanish and understanding more of what I read and hear. My Costa Rican "mom" only speaks Spanish so our meals are a little quiet at times but I am gradually being able to speak to her more. I ride the bus to and from school everyday. It cost me 200 colones which is about 30 cents or so each way. Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays we go on trips around Costa Rica. So far this week I have seen down town San Jose, the national theater, the national museum, the town of Escazu, the town of Cartego and the Lankester Gardens which has over 500 different types of Orchids. I have taken lots of pictures and will post them in a slide show tomorrow!! I can't wait for you to see how beautiful this country is!!! I miss you all and love you much!!!
